Dentures Corinth TX![]() A smile that’s incomplete isn’t a smile. Missing teeth may cause a whole host of issues, such as difficulty eating and speaking, as well as jawbone deterioration and low self-confidence. Don’t allow your smile to disappear. Advances in dental technologies and materials have made complete and partial dentures much more comfortable and lifelike than ever. Complete DenturesComplete dentures come in two varieties: immediate or conventional. A complete conventional denture is created after the removal of a whole mouthful of teeth and the start of healing. This form of tooth restoration can be worn around 8-12 weeks after extraction of all teeth. At our office, we create immediate dentures in advance and place them after your tooth extraction. Therefore, you’ll receive replacement teeth while you’re healing. However, bone and gum shrinkage do happen during the healing process. This natural shrinkage necessitates further adjustments to enable a proper fit. That’s why immediate dentures are typically given as only a short-term tooth replacement solution. Partial DenturesIt’s vital to have missing teeth replaced to prevent the rest of the teeth from moving positions. If you’ve got several missing teeth in the lower or upper jaw, the best solution could be a partial denture. Removable partial dentures are both aesthetic and functional. They fill in the spaces in which teeth are missing, therefore completing your smile. They also help you chew food right. The partial denture is attached to your real teeth with either precision attachments or metal clasps. Precision attachments aren’t as noticeable as metal clasps. However, partial dentures with metal claps may be cheaper than those with precision attachments. When you first start wearing a partial denture, it could feel awkward or cause you some discomfort. Over time, however, your mouth will get used to this denture. Inserting and taking out the partial denture may require some practice as well. If it doesn’t easily fit into place, tell your dentist. The device may require some adjustment. Caring for Your DenturesIt’s vital to take care of your dentures so they can last a long time. Complete and partial dentures may break or crack if dropped into the sink while cleaning. For that reason, you should always ensure that the sink is filled with water beforehand or use a towel while cleaning to protect against any drops. Be sure to brush your dentures every day to remove food debris and plaque. When not using dentures, keep them in a denture cleanser or cool water. This will stop them from losing their shape and fit. Don’t use hot water as it can warp them permanently. Moreover, it’s still vital to brush your natural teeth, gums, palate, and tongue before and after using dentures. Brushing helps stimulate your mouth tissue and remove plaque. Our office also offers same day dentures for certain patients. If you are interested, ask us about them during your consultation. The best way to choose the right denture for your needs is to talk to us. We’ll work with you to ensure your new denture is a comfortable fit. Love everyone I've encountered here! I was told about Dr. Mackie a few months ago and just wish I'd known about her sooner! She is very thorough and kind. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I don't mind and actually look forward to my visits! |
